Meet our new colleague!

Andreas Oscarsson started to work at SeaTwirl this May. In this blog post you can read more about Andreas and his position as Lead Engineer at SeaTwirl.

What made you apply for Lead Engineer at SeaTwirl?

I thought it was an interesting product and company. My interest for naval solutions and product just made it more appealing.

Can you tell us more about your position?

In short, the main task is to move the work forward when it comes to developing the product. Design is one part of it as well, but since we are making a new product, we also need to identify all possible problems and find solutions for them.

What does a typical day at work look like?

A typical day will usually include meetings with consultants and suppliers in order to keep up with the progress. There are a lots of parts and all of them need to be designed and the structure checked with several people working on it. Then there are the systems that will run everything that also needs to be integrated into the design. Eventually, I will be spending more of my time with the design once I am more up to speed with everything that has been done so far.

What do you like the most with your job?

Getting to work with a project that is both interesting and challenging. Not only is it technically complex but new solutions require a lot more thinking “outside the box” in combination with trying to make it easy to manufacture. Working in a smaller company also means more variation in your everyday work.

What are the challenges with your job?

The biggest challenge so far has been trying to catch up with all the things that has been done so far, while at the same time trying to move forward with the things that has to be done now.

What are your thoughts on renewable energy and how SeaTwirl’s product can be one solution for a more sustainable world?

I believe we need to use all the available forms of renewable energy that we can. In order to move away from the use of fossil fuels as fast as possible a single solution will not be enough at the moment. I believe that SeaTwirl can help in adding one more possibility to the production of energy at sea.
