SeaTwirl’s Advisory Board
The SeaTwirl Advisory Board consists of four members, who with their unique skills and expertise, work in an advisory function towards the company’s Management and Board of directors. SeaTwirl’s intention with the Advisory Board is to gain the competence and unique experience from some of the wind power industry’s most acknowledged people. Mike Anderson is a member of both the Board of Directors as well as Advisory Board to provide a valuable link between the two.
Andrew Garrad

Andrew Garrad has more than 40 years’ experience and is one of the pioneers of the modern wind power industry. He was the founder and CEO (1984-2009) of the Garrad Hassan Group Ltd, then the world’s largest renewable energy consultancy; and was President of GL Garrad Hassan from 2009 until his retirement in 2016. Andrew has a PhD in theoretical fluid mechanics and is a visiting Professor at the University of Bristol UK. He was President of the European Wind Energy Association from 2014 to 2016.
Finn-Gunnar Nielsen

Finn Gunnar Nielsen is known as the “father” of the world’s first floating wind turbine “Hywind”, installed in Norway in 2009. Like SeaTwirl, Hywind is also based on a SPAR structure, and Finn Gunnar Nielsen has unique competence in this field. He is also a Professor Emmeritus at the University of Bergen; he was Director of Bergen Offshore Wind Center (BOW) until end of 2022 and was previously employed at Norsk Hydro and Statoil/Equinor.
Mike Anderson

Mike Anderson has a BSc from Nottingham University and PhD, Cambridge University. After completing his PhD in 1982, he was involved in founding RES, which later grew into one of the world’s largest independent companies in renewable energy. Mike served as the company’s CTO from its inception until his retirement in 2017. Since then, he has been acting as an advisor to various companies.
Maf Smith

Maf Smith is an independent advisor focused on floating offshore wind and brings rare and unique insights on the global industry, and emerging floating offshore wind markets. He is the Vice Chair of the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) Floating Wind Task Force and was previously Deputy CEO of RenewableUK and CEO of Scottish Renewables. Maf has worked in the offshore wind industry for more than 20 years, and brings knowledge of leading market players, supply chain growth and government policy.
