One year of collaboration towards electrifying offshore assets!

One Year Anniversary of Verlume and SeaTwirl MoU

It has been one year since SeaTwirl and Verlume signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) – a partnership built on a shared vision to drive the electrification of offshore assets and support the decarbonization of island mode power systems such as the oil and gas industry, remote islands, and military applications.

Over the last 12 months, we have been exploring a range of innovative offshore power solutions that address key industry power delivery challenges, such as the reliance on umbilical cables for subsea power delivery.

By integrating SeaTwirl’s pioneering floating wind technology with Verlume’s intelligent subsea batteries and power management systems, we are developing more stable, reliable and sustainable power solutions for offshore applications.

SeaTwirl’s work together with Verlume gives opportunities to electrify offshore Oil and Gas assets and other offshore applications. With the use of SeaTwirl’s floating wind turbines combined with a battery solution, wind power can deliver a constant power supply over an extended period of time. This combination will allow wind power to be utilized in remote locations since most consumers need stable power supply, regardless of current wind conditions.

Since the power delivered by a battery solution can have a much higher peak load, the size of the battery pack and the size of the turbine that will supply power and charge, can be tailor made for a specific project to match the power need. This results in an optimal, cost-effective system.

This system can be used as a backup to an umbilical cable or as a stand-alone system, giving new possibilities for how an asset is used and powered. The possibility to customize the generator house means that equipment can be added, and storage as well as communication can be done from the floating wind turbine.

Project specific modifications can include:

– Chemical injection storage on the floating turbine

– Back-up generators

– Compressors, pumps or other process equipment

With the use of renewable power, subsea-based batteries and intelligent energy management, we will continue working towards enabling commercial sales of bespoke systems using the companies’ combined technologies as a solution.

We look forward to continuing our work together to transform the energy landscape.
