SeaTwirl has together with Saab, Linköping University and KTH Royal Institute of Technology been awarded a grant from Vinnova’s strategic innovation programme for lightweight.

Saab runs the project that is named “Composite structures with internal graphene sensors”. The project will among other things use sensors in SeaTwirl’s wind turbine blades. The total grant is 2.665 MSEK of which SeaTwirl receives 65 000 SEK for industrial research.

“We’re happy about being able to contribute to this exciting project about more intelligent materials that runs until 2021 and that will, with no doubt, benefit SeaTwirl. As I’ve said before, an important part of our strategy is to utilize so-called soft funding, i.e. the different grants that governments and others awards to support new technology. It is in the same way important for us to use the support for our technology development that academia and industry can provide”, says SeaTwirl CEO Gabriel Strängberg.
