SeaTwirl to be granted patent in the USA

SeaTwirl has received notice that the US Patent Office intends to grant a patent for an anchoring solution for a floating wind turbine of the VAWT-type.

Offshore wind turbines will be subjected to severe weather conditions, and the anchoring of the wind turbine is therefore an important aspect. The patent to be granted by the USPTO relates to an anchoring solution in which the anchoring takes place via at least one floating element. This improves the stability of the wind turbine and reduces the risk of the wind turbine being partly pulled below the surface in a storm.

“The patent is part of our strategic work to build a broad patent portfolio. By protecting technical solutions that optimizes operations and reduces the stress on the power grid, we can strengthen our market position”, says Gabriel Strängberg, CEO of SeaTwirl.
